Barcelona Online | Accommodation in Barcelona

HabitatgeJove HabitatgeJove
Accommodation Service
The Generalitat-backed HabitatgeJove describes itself as a "housing and accommodation service for young people and youth associations", and offers searchable databases on flats and rooms to rent in Barcelona.

Generally functional and a good bet if you are looking for short- to mid-term, cheap accommodation in Barcelona.

•We liked: The fact that we know a lot of people who have successfully found themselves accommodation through this site
•Not so hot: Navigating the site is not always as easy as it might be
•Languages: English, Spanish, Catalan

Loquo Loquotop 10 Barcelona site
Flats, rooms, jobs...
Loquo calls itself a "Barcelona community resource for flats, freelance jobs, personals and events" and we include it in our accommodation section because it's a popular site with students studying Spanish at International House Barcelona who are looking for accommodation. Somehow (viral marketing), word got out that here was a place you could find rooms, and results seem to have been satisfactory.

Apart from accommodation, we found someone looking to adopt a cat, someone else willing to by (any) old bikes and "bits" of bikes, plus 4 "general wanteds" (we assume not for Iraq).

•We liked: That homely, local community sort of feel it has to it, and the neat, clean design
•Not so hot: Nobody seems to want to buy my ABBA LPs
•Languages: English, Spanish and Catalan (although not much in fact is in English)

Oh-BarcelonaOh-Barcelona
Holiday apartments in Barcelona
We were impressed by what we found on the oh-barcelona site, which has a large selection of "holiday apartments in Barcelona" (meaning apartments, shared flats and host families). The ease of searching and finding the sort of thing you are looking for - by dates, by districts of the city, by number of people coming, by price - is also impressive.

We liked: The clear overall design of the site
•Not so hot: The rest of the city guide that it offers
•Languages: English, Spanish; French and German

La Vanguardia Classified ads
Classified ads
For anyone looking for long-term accommodation (ie. renting property), the "Los Clasificados" (Classified Ads) section of La Vanguardia Digital enables you to search the ads appearing in Sunday's print edition.

You're looking for work? Try this same site. You're looking for a partner (non-business)? Ditto.

•We liked: Not having to trawl through the print edition of La Vanguardia looking for a flat
•Not so hot: Didn't find a top-floor, 4-bedroom apartment with jacuzzi, and a view, for under €600 a month
•Languages: Spanish

Barcelona ConnectBarcelona Connect
Classifieds
We're not overly impressed by Barcelona Connect as a city guide but its classified ads section (the link we provide, above) is a popular one with people looking for rooms to rent. It's nice and easy to use and seems to have produce good results.

•We liked: The classified ads in the accommodation section
•Not so hot: The rest of the site
•Languages: English
